What is the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023?
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA) is India's first comprehensive data protection law, enacted in August 2023. It governs the collection, processing, storage, and transfer of digital personal data of individuals in India. The Act creates obligations for "Data Fiduciaries" (organisations that determine the purpose and means of data processing) and grants rights to "Data Principals" (individuals whose data is processed).
